| Sant Mat is the path of inner light and sound, handed down by mystics and saints throughout the ages. It is believed to be the basic esoteric practice behind the majority of religious traditions. The goal is to connect the soul with its source (the oversoul or God), into which it ultimately merges. A vegetarian diet, leaving off use of intoxicants and alcohol and practising purity in thought, word and deed are requirements on the way, as is and daily meditation on inner light and sound. I find it interesting there are so many degrees and variations of "energy". People so often give it other names to depict the same thing. Although this "sant mat" is a different name it is not different from energy work in any way or form. The concept of "inner light and sound" is as they said not new. I have learned of the "humming exercises" that a person can do in order to alleviate stress and to release karmatic issues. A warning while using these is to not focus on what you want the humming to accomplish but so much as to focus on the organ the humming is supposed to be effecting. Also remember when you do these meditations DO NOT feel strain or stress in your body, you should be TOTALLY RELAXED, this includes feeling "happy", bliss is wonderful but focus is the key to this exercise not getting a high. For those interested in a copy of the "humming exercises" please email me and I'll send you a copy wjc_2012@hotmail.com . As for the inner light aspect its useful, but ultimatley you can attain that point with or without their exercises, the inner light will only become if you are only pure intention, even the slightest mal content can cause the inner light to be shut off. It is very difficult to maintain but is not impossible, once again on any thoughts or questions please do not hesitate to email me.

| Thanks very much for your post WJC2012. You're right, in a sense Sant Mat is essentially a practice focussing on energy; a very subtle one. The 'humming exercises' you speak of sound very interesting, however I thought I should let you know, that's NOT what the practices in Sant Mat are about. Sant Mat is about learning to perceive the INNER Light and Sound which are not created with the human tongue or mind. It's highly recommended to have a competent teacher rather than trying to learn it on your own. Thanks again for the post! |

Define competent teacher? Who can honestly teach anything related to energy? People who have experienced perhaps, but there are no "teachers" per say, we simply can share our experiences and those from before us, and you missed my point... groups constantly create names for different forms of the same thing... do you call air by another english name? I'm just saying dont tell anybody that they "need" an instructor to learn energy work, in reality we can all learn it at our own pace, in fact forcing it can cause detrimental effects on the mind body and soul. Please respect this.
